Memphis, TN (Sports Network) - Two made foul shots by Chris Crawford towards
the end of the game were key as the Memphis Tigers held on to defeat the
Marshall Thundering Herd, 73-72, in Conference USA action at FedExForum.
Joe Jackson finished with 16 points and five assists in the Tigers (16-3, 5-0
C-USA) victory. Adonis Thomas scored 15 points and Shaq Goodwin scored 11
points as Memphis extended its winning streak to ten consecutive.
For the Thundering Herd (9-11, 2-3), DeAndre Kane recorded a game-high 22
points. D.D. Scarver added 20 points, five boards, and three assists. Dennis
Tinnon chipped in nine points and nine rebounds as Marshal lost a second
consecutive game.
Memphis shot 54.2 percent from the floor including 5-of-7 from three-point
range. It limited Marshall to a mere 3-of-11 from long-range, en route to a
38-33 advantage at the half.
Marshall shot better in the second half making 42.4 percent from the floor
including 4-of-8 from beyond the arc. Crawford made two free throws to put the
Tigers up four which made Kane's buzzer beating 3-pointer irrelevant to the
outcome.
Memphis outscored Marshall 19-8, in fast break points, and knocked down 7-
of-16 from beyond the arc on the day.
