Athens, GA (Sports Network) - Led by a double-double of 20 points and 10
rebounds from Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, the Georgia Bulldogs downed the Auburn
Tigers, 57-49, in an SEC tilt at Stegeman Coliseum.
Charles Mann added 10 points and dished out six assists for the Bulldogs
(9-11, 3-4 SEC), who have won three of four.
Allen Payne and Frankie Sullivan each finished with 13 points to lead the
Tigers (8-12, 2-5), while Chris Denson chipped in with 12 points, as they
extended their season-long losing streak to five games.
Georgia shot 43.5 percent from the field in the first half, including 4-of-12
from 3-point range, as it took a 26-22 lead into halftime. It held Auburn
to just 32 percent shooting from the field in the opening 20 minutes.
With the game tied, 43-43, with just under five minutes to play, Georgia ran
off five straight points and would never again lose the lead. Auburn did not
help itself much after intermission, shooting just 7-of-28 from the floor
(.250).
The Bulldogs outscored the Tigers in the paint, 22-16.
