Albany, NY (Sports Network) - Rakeem Brookins scored a game-high 18 points and
Rob Poole posted a double-double as the Siena Saints downed the Manhattan
Jaspers, 66-63, in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference conflict at the Times
Union Center.
Poole had 13 points and 11 rebounds, Trenity Burdine netted 14 points and Evan
Hymes had 11 points and six assists for Siena (6-16, 4-7 MAAC) which has won
back-to-back games. O.D. Anosike, who leads the nation in rebounding,
collected just six in the contest.
Michael Alvarado scored 16 points, Rhamel Brown added 13 and Shane Richards
chipped in 11 off the bench for Manhattan (6-15, 4-7) which has lost four
straight.
Siena made good on 41.7 percent of its shots from the floor, including 4-of-9
from beyond the arc, to take a 30-27 lead at halftime. Manhattan shot at a
37 percent rate in the first 20 minutes.
Though they would lead by as many as 13 points in the second half the Saints
allowed Manhattan to go on a 17-4 run late in the contest after which they
trailed, 61-60. Poole then scored five points in the next minute and the
Saints hit 3-of-4 free throws in the final seconds to earn the win.
Siena had a 27-14 edge in points from the free-throw line and outrebounded
the Jaspers by a 37-33 margin.
