rebounds, and three blocks as the Purdue Boilermakers outlasted the Penn State

attempts from the stripe for Purdue (12-11, 5-5 Big Ten), which had lost its
previous two games. Ronnie Johnson led the way with 16 points, while Donnie
Hale recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds off the bench.

Neither team shot greater than 36 percent from the floor in the first half,
but Penn State was able to take a 25-24 lead into halftime by draining a pair
of 3-pointers. Purdue went without a long-range bucket in the opening frame.
The game remained tight until midway through the second half when the
Boilermakers broke a 33-33 tie by ripping off a 16-4 run, and they never
relinquished the lead from that point forward.
