Corvallis, OR (Sports Network) - Joe Burton finished with 17 points, 10
assists, and seven rebounds as the Oregon State Beavers coasted to an 82-64
decision over the Utah Utes in Pac-12 Conference action at Gill Coliseum.
Roberto Nelson poured in a game-high 26 points for Oregon State (12-11, 2-8
Pac-12) while Eric Moreland tallied nine points, 15 rebounds, and four blocks.
The Beavers went 25-of-30 at the free-throw line as a team snapped a three-
game losing streak.
Brandon Taylor led Utah (10-12, 2-8) with 21 points and six assists. Jarred
DuBois chipped in 20 points as the Utes lost for the third time in four games.
Oregon State took a 34-25 lead into the intermission even though it shot just
33.3 percent from the field in the first half. Utah trailed by nine at the
break after going 9-of-28 from the floor including a 2-of-10 mark from 3-point
range.
The Utes heated up slightly to hit 39.3 percent of their field goal attempts
and 5-of-10 from distance after halftime, but the Beavers connected on 59.3
percent of their field goal tries and sank 14-of-17 attempts at the free-throw
line in the final 20 minutes to extend their advantage.
Oregon State held a 41-33 edge in the rebounding battle and outscored the
visitors, 32-14, in the paint to capture the win.
