Tallahassee, FL (Sports Network) - Travis McKie tallied 15 points and six
rebounds to lead the Wake Forest Demon Deacons to a 71-46 rout over the
Florida State Seminoles in Atlantic Coast Conference action at the Tucker
Center.
Codi Miller-McIntyre and C.J. Harris had 14 points apiece for the Demon
Deacons (11-12, 4-7 ACC), who entered the day with losses in six of their
previous seven outings. Chase Fischer chipped in with 10 points and two steals
off the bench in the victory.
Okaro White and Michael Snaer each scored 13 points to lead the Seminoles
(13-10, 5-5).
The Demon Deacons never trailed in the contest. They jumped out to an early
7-2 lead and then used a 6-0 spurt to go up, 23-12, on Arnaud William Adala
Moto's layup with 7:22 remaining in the half. Wake Forest went into the break
leading, 34-26.
The Demon Deacons opened the second half with a 10-3 run to stretch their lead
to 15, and they maintained a double-digit cushion the rest of the way. FSU
made only 6-of-24 field goals over the final 20 minutes.
After allowing their previous five opponents to average 83 points per game,
the Demon Deacons put the clamps down defensively and held FSU to 32.6-percent
shooting for the game. WF also held a commanding 45-25 rebounding advantage.
