Fairfield, CT (Sports Network) - Donovan Kates scored a game-high 17 points as
he guided the Manhattan Jaspers to a 62-40 win over the Fairfield Stags in a
Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference showdown at the Webster Bank Arena.
Also scoring in double figures for the Jaspers (9-15, 7-7 MAAC) was Emmy
Andujar who came off the bench to record 13 points, to go along with six
rebounds and five assists for the visitors as they won their third straight
outing.
The Stags (15-11, 7-7) were paced by Maurice Barrow who came off the bench to
account for nine points as the squad had a five-game win streak snapped.
Amadou Sidibe registered a game-high 13 rebounds, seven coming at the
offensive end.
Fairfield led by as many as five points in the first half, but the team ended
up converting a total of just four field goals in the period, en route to a
34-13 deficit at the break.
Manhattan, which knocked down an impressive 58.3 percent from the field over
the first 20 minutes of action, dipped to 45.0 percent in the second half but
still cruised to the comfortable road win.
The Stags won the rebounding battle, 44-33, claiming a total of 21 at the
offensive end of the floor, compared to just two such rebounds for the
visitors.
This was one of a handful of games originally scheduled to take place over the
weekend but had to be postponed due to a winter storm that hit the state of
Connecticut. The game was initially rescheduled for Monday but again had to be
pushed back as clean up from the storm continued.
