Lexington, KY (Sports Network) - Willie Cauley-Stein recorded a game-high 20
points as the Kentucky Wildcats captured their first win without injured star
Nerlens Noel against the Vanderbilt Commodores 74-70, in SEC action at Rupp
Arena.
Archie Goodwin contributed 16 points and six boards for the Wildcats (18-8,
9-4 SEC). Ryan Harrow added 12 points, five rebounds and four assists as
Kentucky snapped a two-game losing streak.
For the Commodores (10-15, 4-9), Kedren Johnson tallied a team-high 17 points
and seven assists. Rod Odom added 16 points and Kyle Fuller chipped in 14
points. Josh Henderson put up 13 points as Vanderbilt lost for the second time
in its last three games.
In the first half, Kentucky knocked down 19-of-31 from the floor and took a
23-9 lead before eventually claiming a 42-34 advantage at the break.
In the second half, Vanderbilt outscored Kentucky 36-32, but it was not enough
as the Wildcats held on for the four-point victory. The Wildcats converted 10-
of-16 at the charity stripe over the final 20 minutes to protect their lead.
Kentucky made 51.8 percent of its shots from the floor and outscored
Vanderbilt, 38-24, in points in the paint.
