Fort Collins, CO (Sports Network) - Wes Eikmeier paced four teammates in
double figures with 18 points as the Colorado State Rams outlasted the Fresno
State Bulldogs, 74-67, in Mountain West Conference action at Moby Arena.
Dorian Green added 16 points for CSU (22-6, 9-4 MWC), which bounced back from
a two-game losing skid. Colton Iverson tallied a double-double with 12 points
and 12 rebounds for the hosts, while Daniel Bejarano chipped in 11 points.
For Fresno State (9-18, 3-11), Kevin Olekaibe shot a perfect 6-of-6 from
beyond the arc for 18 points, while Allen Huddleston chipped in 12 points.
Marvelle Harris (14 points, seven rebounds) and Kevin Foster (10 points) were
both impressive off the bench.
In a back-and-forth first half, CSU ended the frame on a 5-0 run to take a
37-34 lead into intermission. Fresno State outshot CSU from the field in the
opening 20 minutes, 63.6 percent to 48.1 percent, but the Rams drained seven
free throws compared to just one for the Bulldogs.
Fresno State brought its deficit to two midway through the second half, but
CSU pulled away with a 10-0 surge. The Bulldogs never got within seven points
of the lead the rest of the way.
CSU won both the rebounding (32-24) and the turnover (14-10) battles on the
night.
