Malibu, CA (Sports Network) - Paced by 25 points from Matthew Dellavedova, the
Saint Mary's Gaels picked apart the Pepperdine Waves, 87-48, in West Coast
Conference action at Firestone Fieldhouse.
Stephen Holt added 13 points for Saint Mary's (25-5, 13-2 WCC), which has won
four in a row and 13 of its last 14. Brad Waldow netted 11 points, while
Mitchell Young hauled in 10 points for the Gaels, who have won 25 games or
more in each of the past six season, joining Gonzaga, Duke and Kansas in the
exclusive club.
Stacy Davis finished with 12 points and seven rebounds for Pepperdine (12-16,
4-11), while Jordan Baker poured in 11 points. The Waves are now losers of
three in a row.
Saint Mary's shot a lofty 51.6 percent from the field in the first half while
holding Pepperdine to a mere 6-of-24 (.250) shooting, as it took a comfortable
36-19 lead into the break.
The Gaels continued their hot field goal shooting after intermission (.515),
and their advantage was never in question.
With 1,871 career points, Dellavedova is just three points behind Daniel
Kickert for first place in program history.
