St. Louis, MO (SportsNetwork.com) - Dwayne Evans led all scorers with 24 points, as the Saint Louis Billikens easily defeated the Indiana State Sycamores, 83-66, in a non-conference battle at Chaifetz Arena.
Rob Loe tallied 15 points and nine rebounds for the Billikens (10-2), while Austin McBroom added 15 points as well. Jordair Jett chipped 12 points and seven assists for the hosts.
Manny Arop scored 16 points for the Sycamores (7-3), which snapped a four-game winning streak. Justin Gant and Khristian Smith scored 12 points apiece.
The Billikens shot 41.4 percent in the first stanza, including 4-of-15 from beyond the arc, as they took a 34-27 lead into the half. Indiana State shot 41.7 percent from the floor in the opening 20 minutes but was just 1-of-5 from 3-point range.
Saint Louis came out strong after the break by making 57.9 percent of its field goal tries and draining 6-of-10 from behind the 3-point line. The Sycamores shot an impressive 53.8 percent from the field, but they committed 21 personal fouls in the second half, allowing Saint Louis to go 21-of-26 from the free-throw line.
The home team outrebounded the Sycamores, 34-22. Despite this, Indiana State was able to edge the Billikens 36-22 on points in the paint.
