Carbondale, IL (Sports Network) - Carlton Fay scored 16 points, including the
game winning basket with two seconds remaining in regulation, to lead the
Southern Illinois Salukis to a slim 57-55 victory over the Northern Iowa
Panthers in Missouri Valley Conference play at SIU Arena.
Kendal Brown-Surles added 14 points for SIU (7-6, 1-1 MVC), while Mykel
Cleveland tallied 10 points.
Kwadzo Ahelegbe registered 18 points for UNI (9-5, 0-2), while Anthony James
tallied 13 points.
The Panthers shot 54.2 percent from the floor in the first half and went into
the break with a 33-29 lead.
The Salukis returned the favor in the second stanza, as they shot 52.4 percent
from the field, en route to the slim win.
SIU's bench scored 29 points in the matchup, while Northern Iowa's reserves
tallied just 10 points.
