Cards' McGregor getting another look

By Brian Stull of St. Louis Baseball Weekly

(KSDK Sports) -- Among the headlines for today's game between the St. Louis Cardinals and New York Mets are Adam Wainwright taking the mound and the temporary return of the designated hitter because the Mets have split-squad action.

It will be Waino's second consecutive start against the Mets. He allowed only a solo homerun against them last Tuesday in 3.1 innings. Overall, he has given up just the one run and three hits in his 5.1 innings pitched this Spring.

But while not a headline, it is noteworthy that right-hander Scott McGregor will again be available out of the bullpen today. The prospect pitched a hitless, scoreless inning against Atlanta on Wednesday.

Last season, McGregor went 6-10 at Memphis last year after starting 4-1 at Springfield. He missed 19 months due to Tommy John surgery in 2011 and was originally part of the Cardinals' STEP program this Spring.

Randy Choate, Kevin Siegrist, Sam Freeman, Seth Maness, Keith Butler, and Jorge Rondon are also in the tbullpen today.

Today's Lineup:
Matt Carpenter, 3B
Jhonny Peralta, SS
Matt Holliday, DH
Allen Craig, 1B
Yadier Molina, C
Stephen Piscotty, RF
Kolten Wong, 2B
Jon Jay, CF
Randal Grichuk, LF
(Wainwright, P)
