CBC alum Jake Burger gets picked in first round

Nothing can serve as a "pick me up" quite like the MLB Draft.

Yesterday, Jake Burger was in tears after his Missouri State Bears were eliminated by TCU in the NCAA Super Regionals.

Today, Burger watched as his name was called as the 11th pick in the draft. The former CBC slugger was picked by the Chicago White Sox.

"It felt like ten tons just released off my shoulders," Burger said with a smile, "going back to yesterday, it was an emotion filled day with my teammates. It is good to see them happy here. I think it gives us something to rally behind."

Burger arguably had the most power in the draft.  He hit .328 with 22 homers and 65 RBI this year at Missouri State. He was named a first team All-American and was named the Missouri Valley Conference player of the year.

It is a dream come true for Burger, who always had a dream to play for the White Sox.

"i grew up a White Sox fan, I mean it is awesome that I have the opportunity to play for them," Burger said, "I am in a dream right now to be honest."
