Jamaican bobsled team qualifies for Sochi

KSDK – If you're a fan of "Cool Runnings," we're about to give you with a great reason to watch the Sochi Olympics: you might see a Jamaican bobsled team!

Jamaica's two-man bobsled team of Winston Watts and Marvin Dixon has become the country's first to qualify for the Winter Olympics since 2002.

Jamaica tweeted the good news on Sunday.

The notion of a Jamaican bobsled team was popularized by the 1993 film "Cool Runnings," which was loosely based on the true story of the 1988 Jamaican national bobsled team.

The team may have a hard time getting to the Olympics though – Watts told The Telegraph that they currently don't have the money to make it Sochi.

"…I'm one of life's optimists," Watts added. "I put my heart on the line for this. Any British companies out there interested in sponsorin' us? Hopefully the Jamaican Olympic Association will step in and support us now we've qualified…"
