MLB to allow players to wear nicknames on jerseys

The back of a jersey is usually what makes it easy for the audience to identify which player is which, as it typically has their number and their last name.

Now, if you want to know which baseball player is up to bat, you may need to know his nickname too.

MLB announced that the weekend of August 25-27 will be called "Players' Weekend," and the uniform rules will be relaxed.

One of the rules to stretched are the uniform regulations. Players will have the option to wear their nickname on the back of the jersey in place of their last name.

Players will also have color options on spikes, batting gloves, wristbands and catcher's masks.
