UMSL women's basketball team headed to the NCAA tournament

The UMSL women's basketball program was selected for the NCAA Division II Tournament on Sunday night.

Katie Vaughn's team are the seventh seed in the Midwest Region. They will take on second-seeded Lewis on Friday afternoon at 2:30. The game will be played at Drury University's O'Reilly Family Events Center in Springfield, MO.

It is only the second time in the history of the program that the Tritons have made the tournament, and not since the 1999-2000 season. This season, UMSL finished 21-7, the second-most wins any Triton team has recorded.

UMSL and Lewis met once during the regular season, with the Flyers winning at UMSL, 67-60.

This was the reaction as the Tritons found out they had made the Big Dance.
