Video of SLU player helping homeless man goes viral

ST. LOUIS - The Saint Louis University basketball squad enjoyed a season for the record books this year. But the latest story involving SLU hoops making waves on the internet may be one of the best highlights of the year.

Sophomore guard Austin McBroom and a friend uploaded a video detailing a recent encounter with a homeless man.

In the video, the young men ask the homeless man if he is hungry and take him to a Kentucky Fried Chicken.

The college students then ask the man if he would like a haircut. The video also shows McBroom and his friend outfitting the man in new clothes from the mall.

It's an uplifting demonstration of the Good Samaritan story in a viral-video culture that usually celebrates "selfies" and Vine videos that make us laugh, but seldom make us feel empathy for our fellow man.
