Tyler Heintz, a freshman offensive lineman at Kent State, died Tuesday after a workout, according to a report in the Kent (Ohio) Record-Courier.
Heintz was pronounced dead at 11:34 a.m., Portage County Coroner Dean DePerro told the Record-Courier. The paper reports that firefighters found Heintz unresponsive at 9:18 a.m. at Dix Stadium.
Heintz was a freshman recruit from Kenton, Ohio, about 2 1/2 hours away from the school's campus.
DePerro told the Record-Courier that an autopsy would be performed to determine the cause of death.
“The post-mortem is just one piece of the puzzle,” he told the paper. “That takes time.”
The school has not released a statement confirming the incident.
