Pinkel is the winningest coach in Mizzou football history with a record of 102-63 in 13 seasons, and he was a finalist for the National Coach of the Year award, which went to Duke's David Cutliffe.

Under the new contract, which is up from his $2.8 million contract, he'll receive a number of increases in apparel, radio, TV and booster, but is guaranteed the $3.1 million.

He'll also receive other incentives based on number of wins, conference championships, ticket receipts and Top 25 BCS finishes, which at maximum could be another $1.8 million.

With this increase, his assistant coaching staff also receives an increase of $3.2 million, which is up from $2.66 million.

This past season, the Tigers took the defeated Southeastern Conference Eastern Division title but lost in the SEC Championship game to Auburn.

The Tigers beat Oklahoma State University Cowboys in the AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic this past January.
