Athletes to Watch: Gracie Gold takes the ice

(KSDK) – The Sochi Winter Olympic games are underway, and we're helping you keep an eye on the ones to watch, medal contenders and record setters.

  • The ladies' figure skating competition gets underway Wednesday with the short program, and all eyes will be on Missouri native Gracie Gold. In the team figure skating competition last week, Gold placed second, behind Russia's Yulia Lipnitskaya. She'll also have to stand out from two-time national champion Ashley Wagner. Watch live at 9 a.m. on NBC Sports Network or at 7 p.m. on NBC.
  • Two American women's bobsled teams are in the hunt for the top spot of the podium. USA-1 pilot Elana Meyers and brakeman Lauryn Williams are in first place with USA-2 pilot Jamie Greubel and Aja Evans sitting in third at the end of the first day. Watch at 7 p.m. on NBC.
  • The men's hockey team try to keep their undefeated streak alive as the Americans face off with the Czech team today to advance past the quarterfinals. Watch live at 11 a.m. on NBC Sports Network.
  • Can Bode Miller earn another medal in these Winter Olympics? He and American Ted Ligety will chase after the podium in the men's alpine skiing – giant slalom. Watch at 7 p.m. on NBC.
