Detroit, MI (Sports Network) - The Detroit Tigers released infielder Brandon
Inge following Thursday's loss to Seattle.
Inge, 34, has played all 12 of his major league seasons with the Tigers, but
was just 2-for-20 in nine games this year with a .100 batting average and on-
base percentage.
He batted under .200 in 102 games last season and is three years removed from
hitting 27 homers with 84 runs batted in during one of his most productive
campaigns.
The Tigers will purchase the contract of Brad Eldred from Triple-A Toledo on
Friday. The slugging first baseman has 13 homers, 35 RBI and is batting .388
in 20 games for the Mud Hens this year.
Inge, who started with the Tigers in 2001, played his last game for them
Tuesday and went 1-for-2 with a double and a runs scored against the Mariners.
