Boston, MA (Sports Network) - Carl Beane, the public address announcer at
Fenway Park since 2003, died in a one-car accident on Wednesday afternoon. He
was 59.
According to the office of Worcester District Attorney Joseph D. Early, a
preliminary investigation found Beane's sport utility vehicle crashed into a
tree and wall after crossing over the double solid lines on Holland Road in
Sturbridge. He was pronounced dead at Harrington Hospital in Southbridge a
short time later.
According to his personal website, Beane, who was born in Agawam, Mass., had
worked in sports broadcasting since 1972.
