Bronx, NY (Sports Network) - New York Yankees closer Mariano Rivera was
hospitalized for a blood clot in his right calf.
Doctors discovered the blood clot while he was being examined for his torn ACL
in his right knee. He is now on blood thinners and this will not affect his
recovery from the season-ending injury.
Rivera was carted off the field last Thursday after suffering a torn ACL
while shagging fly balls during batting practice.
He will have surgery to repair the knee sometime in the next couple of weeks
as he needs to strengthen the knee before having the surgery.
