San Diego, CA (Sports Network) - San Diego Padres pitcher Cory Luebke said
Monday that he will have season-ending surgery later this week on his injured
left elbow.
The left-hander hasn't pitched since April 27 and will have surgery on
Wednesday to repair a tear in his ulnar collateral ligament.
Luebke held a 3-1 record with a 2.61 earned run average in five starts this
season before landing on the 15-day disabled list on May 2.
The Padres first-round pick in 2007, Luebke sports a 10-12 record with a 3.25
ERA in 55 games -- 25 starts -- over three seasons with San Diego.
On Sunday, the Padres moved Luebke to the 60-day disabled list in order to
create a spot on the 40-man roster for pitcher Matt Palmer, who joined the
team from Triple-A Tucson.
