New York, NY (Sports Network) - Major League Baseball suspended Washington Nationals minor league pitcher Josh Wilkie 50 games on Thursday.

Wilkie was suspended for a second violation of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program for a drug of abuse.

The suspension of Wilkie, who is currently on the roster of the Nationals' Triple-A affiliate Syracuse Chiefs, is effective immediately.
