Flushing, NY (Sports Network) - Cliff Lee threw eight good innings for his
first win of the season, Chase Utley and Carlos Ruiz provided the fireworks
with back-to-back homers, and the Phillies beat the Mets 9-2 on Wednesday.
The snakebitten Lee (1-5) earned his first victory in 14 starts this season,
snapping a drought that went back to his final start of 2011, on Sept.
26.
He struck out nine and gave up two runs on seven his and a walk.
Lee was backed by 12 hits as the Phillies rebounded from an 11-1 loss in the
opener of the three-game series on Tuesday to snap a six-game losing streak
and a seven-game road skid.
Chris Young (2-2) took the loss for the Mets, allowing three runs on five hits
in seven innings.
