Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - The Oakland Athletics reinstated pitcher Brett
Anderson from the 60-day disabled list Monday and optioned pitcher Dan Straily
to Triple-A Sacramento.
Anderson underwent Tommy John surgery on July 14, 2011 on his left elbow and
is slated to make his first major league start in over a year Tuesday against
the Minnesota Twins.
The 24-year-old lefty went 1-1 with a 4.62 earned run average in six rehab
starts between Single-A Stockton and Sacramento.
Straily was recalled by Oakland on August 3 and earned his first major league
win in his most recent start against the Kansas City Royals on August 16. He
went 1-0 with a 3.18 ERA over three starts with Oakland.
To make room for Anderson on the roster, the A's designated catcher Anthony
Recker for assignment.
Recker, who was on Oakland's opening day roster, hit .129 over 13 games with
the A's.
