Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Kevin Frandsen contributed an RBI single
among four hits and scored the go-ahead run on Ryan Howard's fifth-inning
sacrifice fly, as the Philadelphia Phillies avoided being swept by the New
York Mets with a 3-2 win on Thursday afternoon.
Ty Wigginton knocked in the other run for the Phillies, who had dropped five
in a row at Citizens Bank Park to the Mets, including the first two
installments of this three-game set.
Kyle Kendrick (8-9) continued his terrific play of late, tossing 7 2/3
effective innings to win his fourth straight start. The Philadelphia right-
hander gave up home runs to two of the first six batters he faced, but
scattered only five more hits during his outing.
