San Juan, Puerto Rico (Sports Network) - Former NBA All-Star Dan Roundfield
was vacationing with his family in Aruba when he drowned on Monday.
The 59-year-old Roundfield spent 11 seasons in the NBA after being selected
with the 28th pick overall by Cleveland in the 1975 draft.
The Detroit native played for the Indiana Pacers (1976-78), Atlanta Hawks
(1978-84), Detroit Pistons (1984-85) and Washington Bullets (1985-87). The
Central Michigan product was named to three NBA All-Star teams.
He is survived by his wife Bernadette, his sons Christopher and Corey and
their grandchildren.
"The Atlanta Hawks family is deeply saddened by the passing of Danny
Roundfield, who died Monday, August 6, in Aruba," Hawks president of
basketball operations and general manager Danny Ferry said in a statement.
"Danny represented the Hawks with dignity and pride both on and off the court,
and this is a tragic loss for us all. Our hearts go out to the Roundfield
family, his wife Bernadette, his two sons Christopher and Corey, and his
grandchildren."
