Charlotte, NC (Sports Network) - The Carolina Panthers have released
cornerback Chris Gamble, the franchise's all-time leader in interceptions.
Gamble had been with the Panthers since the club took him in the first round
(28th overall) of the 2004 NFL Draft.
"I appreciate the contributions of Chris during my first two years as head
coach and to the organization for many years," said Panthers head coach Ron
Rivera in a statement Friday. "He always handled things the right way and we
wish him the best."
Gamble played just four games last season before being placed on injured
reserve with a shoulder ailment.
The Ohio State product played in 123 career games with the Panthers, recording
27 interceptions. He ranks third in team history with 558 tackles.
