Tempe, AZ (Sports Network) - The Arizona Cardinals continued to fortify their
secondary through the free-agent market, with the club agreeing to terms on a
one-year contract with cornerback Antoine Cason on Friday.
Cason, who played collegiately at the University of Arizona, comes to the
Cardinals following a five-year stint with the San Diego Chargers in which he
started a total of 49 games -- including 45 over the past three seasons. He
started all 16 contests for the Bolts in 2012, compiling 71 tackles, two
interceptions and 12 passes defensed.
The 26-year-old owns 12 career interceptions and 55 pass breakups, in addition
to having made 25 tackles on special teams.
Cason will be joining two other newcomers, cornerback Jerraud Powers and
safety Yeremiah Bell, in a remade Arizona defensive backfield. The Cardinals
also released longtime safety Adrian Wilson along with 2012 starting mate
Kerry Rhodes during this offseason.
