St. Louis (KSDK) -- A St. Louis man is leading the Blues Beard-a-thon.
During the first round of the NFL Playoffs, more than 500 St. Louis Blues fans signed up to grow a beard to raise money for the Joshua Chamberlain Society. The Joshua Chamberlain Society is a local organization that provides support to veterans in our area that have sustained permanent combat injuries.
Doug Rasmussen has raised more than $5,500 for charity, smashing his goal of $1,000.
The fan that raises the most money for the Blues Beard-a-thon will receive a suite to a 2012-2013 regular season game, along with a visit from a Blues celebrity.
Fans can still sign up to grow a playoff beard, or pledge their favorite beard grower or St. Louis Blues player. All contributions to the Blues Beard-a-thon are tax-deductible. For more information or to make a donation, visit www.beardathon.com/blues.
