Ottawa, ON (Sports Network) - The Ottawa Senators have signed center Kyle
Turris to a five-year contract extension.
Financial terms were not disclosed, but the deal keeps the former first-round
pick under contract through the 2017-18 season.
Turris was acquired from Phoenix last December in a trade that sent defenseman
David Rundblad and a second-round pick in the 2012 draft to the Coyotes. He
was selected by Phoenix with the third overall pick of the 2007 NHL Entry
Draft.
The 23-year-old British Columbia native set career highs last season with 12
goals, 17 assists and 29 points in 55 games. He added a goal and two assists
in seven playoff games, scoring the overtime winner in Game 4 of the Eastern
Conference quarterfinals against the New York Rangers.
In 186 career NHL games with Phoenix and Ottawa, Turris has 31 goals and 44
assists for 75 points.
