The woman who accused Florida State star quarterback Jameis Winston of rape plans to file civil lawsuits against the 2013 Heisman winner, who led the Seminoles to a national championship on Monday.
"I want heads to roll," the woman's attorney, Pat Carroll, told ABC News. "Absolutely you're going to see a civil suit. You can not have law enforcement that is not held accountable."
Carroll told ABC the family also plans to take civil action against the Tallahassee Police Department, claiming negligence in the way it handled the case, which ultimately led prosecutors to drop it. Additionally, Carroll anticipates the family will proceed with civil action against Florida State University.
The charges against Winston were filed on Dec. 7, 201
2, but an investigation closed shortly afterward. The case was reopened in November after the charges against Winston became public. Willie Meggs, the state attorney for Florida, conducted another investigation and ultimately decided not to file any charges against Winston in December.
