Doran to coach Ambush next season

St. Charles, MO – St. Louis Ambush head coach Daryl Doran will be back at the helm of the Major Indoor Soccer League team next season. In making the announcement, team owner Andrew Haines said, "I'm pleased to have Daryl back for another season. Neither Daryl or myself are satisfied with our record this season and we both agree that the 2014-15 season looks very promising as we pursue some key veteran players during the off-season to help our young team."

The 2014-15 season will be Doran's 13th coaching a St. Louis professional indoor soccer team. He coached the original St. Louis Ambush to the 1995 NPSL Championship and coached the St. Louis Steamers for four seasons between 2000 and 2005. He has coached in three different leagues; the NPSL, WISL and MISL. Doran is the only player to have played for every St. Louis professional indoor soccer team. His 827 career games are the most of any player in American professional indoor soccer history. He appeared in 13 All-Star Games.

Doran said, "I'm excited to be coming back next season. I had a great time getting back into it and learned a lot about the league and the teams this year. I'm disappointed we didn't make playoffs but look forward to keeping a good core group of players and adding a little more experience in the off season."

St. Louis fans have welcomed professional indoor soccer back by showing tremendous support for the Ambush during their inaugural season. The team is currently third in the MISL in average attendance at nearly 6,000 per game and leads the MISL in season tickets with over 1,000 sold. Haines said, "I want to thank our great fans for the support we've received during our inaugural season. It shows that St. Louis is a soccer town, and we are excited for the future of the Ambush and soccer in the region."

The Ambush, presented by Simmons First National Bank, have two games remaining on their 2013-14 MISL schedule; one at home and one on the road. The last home game is this Thursday, February 27, when the Ambush host the Missouri Comets at 7:35 p.m. at the Family Arena. Thursday is Retro Night and will feature a Reunion Game of former Ambush, Storm and Steamers legends at halftime. Current Ambush players will wear throwback jerseys from the 1992-94 St. Louis Ambush era when they clash with the Comets. Before the Ambush-Comets game, your St. Louis indoor soccer legends will be signing autographs from 6:30 to 7:15 on the concourse. Organist Jeremy Boyer will perform live throughout the evening. Live organ music was a staple of the Steamers games in the 1980's. Boyer is a student of the legendary Ernie Hayes and is currently the organist for the St. Louis Blues and has played at Busch Stadium for the Cardinals.
