Blues players and coaches spent their Thanksgiving in each other's company on Thursday, getting away from hockey and taking advantage of some down time.
Paul Stastny hosted a group of players at his home including Steen, Robert Bortuzzo, Colton Parayko, Shattenkirk, Nail Yakupov, Scottie Upshall, Jaden Schwartz, Patrik Berglund, Robby Fabbri, Edmundson and Ty Rattie.
"Got to catch all three (NFL) games," Shattenkirk said. "We had a great dinner over at Paul Stastny's house. I think that was what everyone needed was a day to kind of (relax) and sit on the couch.
The get together was for players who didn't have their spouses with them in town or guys simply on their own.
"Paul was nice enough to host us and cook us a pretty darn good meal," Shattenkirk said. "I wound up carving the turkey when it came out of the oven. His wife Haley did a great job and Alex Steen's fiance Josie, they spent most of the hours in the kitchen."
The coaching staff spent the day at the home of assistant coach Ray Bennett.
"We had some fun. We had a lot of time," Hitchcock said. "The coaches have a get-together that's a lot of fun.
"I never watched one second of hockey and I watched my favorite westerns again and again and again where I could tell you every word of every dialogue in a couple of them."
