KSDK -- The new utility man for the St. Louis Cardinals, Mark DeRosa, was checked by the Cardinals' medical staff after being taken out from the game against the Giants in the sixth inning. He was diagnosed with a left wrist strain and his status is day-to-day.

Meanwhile, the team announced that last year's third baseman, Troy Glaus, will head down to the Cardinals' Complex in Jupiter, Florida to rehab his surgically repaired right shoulder that was operated on January 21. Glaus has been on the disabled list all season.

Jarrett Hoffpauir, sixth round draft pick from 2004 out of the University of Southern Mississippi, has been recalled from Memphis (AAA). Hoffpauir, 26, will become the ninth Cardinal to make their major league debut and 15th rookie to join the club.

He was batting .276 with 10 home runs and 31 RBI's for the Memphis Redbirds. Jarrett was named the Cardinals Minor League Player of the Month for June after hitting .327 to go along with seven homers and 20 RBI's in 27 games.

To make room for #34 Hoffpauir, the Cardinals right-handed relief pitcher Clayton Mortensen back to Memphis.
