KSDK -- St. Louis Athletica had three players selected for the league's First XI for the inaugural Women's Professional Soccer All-Star Game on August 30.
The Athletica's Lori Chalupny, Tina Ellerton and Eniola Aluko made the team. Unfortunately, Aluko will be on duty with England in the European Championships at the time of the All-Star Game and unable to participate.
An additional seven players will announced to the All-Star roster later in the week. Athletica goalie Hope Solo is expected to be on that list. The players were chosen by an equal combination of votes from fans (25 percent), media (25 percent), coaches (25 percent) and fellow players (25 percent).
The WPS All-Star Game takes place at the Anheuser-Busch Soccer Park in Fenton on Sunday, August 30 at 4:30 p.m., with the team meeting Swedish league championships Umea IK. The game will be televised across the country on Fox Soccer Channel.
Tickets are still available for the game and can be purchased online at www.SaintLouisAthletica.com or by calling 1-888-STL-GOAL.
