KSDK -- It's still not clear who will be returning to the Cardinals next season, both on the field and off.

Following a meeting by Cardinals management and coaches this Monday afternoon, the future of the team's roster seemed a mystery.

When asked about Tony LaRussa's return in 2010, Cardinals chairman Bill DeWitt said "we're going to work with Tony on that". DeWitt has a lot of respect for what LaRussa's done for the team. "He's won a lot and third on the all-time list... he's a great manager and had a tremendous success... I hope he stays here," DeWitt said.

DeWitt couldn't say if any of the new acquisitions, including Matt Holliday, Mark DeRosa or John Smoltz would be back next year. He described the situation as "wait and see".

Pitching coach Dave Duncan called it "a good meeting" that covered what's in store for next year. Duncan said he would be talking with Cardinals General Manager John Mozeliak about whether he will return next year.
