KSDK -- Cardinals slugger Albert Pujols will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow Wednesday morning to remove bone spurs.

The team said renowned sports surgeon Dr. James Andrews will perform the procedure at a facility in Birmingham, Alabama.

The Cardinals will provide additional details following the surgery.

Pujols, a two-time National League MVP, hit 47 home runs, batted .327 and drove in 135 runs this past season. This is the second time in as many years Pujols will have surgery on his arm. Last October, the 29-year-old underwent a brief procedure to relieve nerve pain.
