St. Louis police are investigating a deadly hit and run accident Sunday, that killed a pedestrian near Chouteau and Theresa.
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KSDK) -- St. Louis police are investigating a deadly hit and run accident Sunday, that killed a pedestrian near Chouteau and Theresa.
Police say a man was struck and killed around 2:30 a.m. Sunday in the 3600 block of Chouteau.
A witness reported observing an older model dark colored Jeep Cherokee stopped at the electric signal on Chouteau at Grand Avenue facing eastbound.
According to the witness, the victim walked from the curb to the front driver's side window of the dark colored Jeep and reached inside the driver's side window, which was down, with both hands then the Jeep slowly drove eastbound on Chouteau.
The Jeep increased its speed at which time the victim's feet went under the driver's side of the Jeep and the victim lost his grip and was ran over by the Jeep.
Another witness also reported observing the man's body in the roadway.
The witness tried to alert oncoming vehicles of the victim in the roadway but an unknown vehicle, also travelling eastbound on Chouteau, ran over the victim.
Both vehicles fled the scene before police arrived.
The victim was pronounced deceased on the scene and his name is not being released at this time.
