(KSDK) – Although the summer season doesn't begin for another month, summer blockbusters get kicked off this weekend.

From superheroes to sequels to a planet of apes, this summer has a number of films for everyone.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 – May 2

Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone return as Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," where Parker must face hard decisions and famous foes such as The Rhino, Electro and the Green Goblin.

Godzilla – May 16

The most famous of monsters climbs back into theaters in this reboot, which stars Bryan Cranston, Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

X-Men: Days of the Future Past - May 23

In the highly anticipated sequel to X-Men: First Class Wolverine travels to the past to change history and attempt to prevent a doomed future.

Blended – May 23

Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler star in another film where a man and woman are stuck at a resort together with their families following a disastrous blind date.

Maleficent – May 30

Angelina Jolie stars as of one of the most classic fairy tale villains, Maleficent, and gives her and Sleeping Beauty's back story.

22 Jump Street – June 13

Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill move across the street from their old stomping grounds, 21 Jump Street, and goes undercover in college.

How to Train Your Dragon 2 – June 13
