It seems a fitting and sweet send-off.
Robin Williams was found dead on Aug. 11 in his Tiburon, Calif., home, near San Francisco.
Huffington Post notes that under California law only authorized persons may receive authorized copies of death records. That would not include media. But the document is signed by Richard N. Benson, who appears in the county directory.
The certificate, issued by the State of California, County of Marin, also lists Williams' cause of death as "pending investigation." Toxicology reports are pending.
Reps for Williams have not responded to USA TODAY's requests for confirmation.
Look for Billy Crystal and Sara Bareilles to pay tribute to Williams at the 66thEmmy Awards on Monday.
