According to Sara Murphy, a horticulturist with the Missouri Botanical Gardens, the best time to water your lawn is "early morning or late evening." This helps you avoid scorching your plants. "That's because if you have water droplets on your grass early when the sun is at it's highest, it can actually scorch your plants or lawn."
