A stones throw away from the Soulard Market across the street from Bogart's Smokehouse is a place packed with unique gifts and home furnishings.

"We have earrings, necklaces, bracelets, all kinds of jewelry," explains Cathy Weldon, owner of The Porch.

It's a store that just sort of blossomed.

"We opened the place on a whim so we just wanted to do something fun that we like doing which is shopping, gardening and drinking," she goes on to say.

So if you're wondering if they've got wine, they do.

"We're not conventional that's for sure, where else can you sip wine and shop," she asks.

She opened The Porch, which by the way has a patio, in 2004.

"The beauty of this store is we buy things that we love," Weldon points out.

Of course the downside to that is there are times when it's hard to see an item sell.

"Yes, yes, many times," she says laughing.

She's not your average shop owner, but then you can probably tell this isn't your average shop. It's a place where you're bound to find something for even that hard to buy for someone.

The point is you never really know what you'll find at The Porch.
