ST. LOUIS - In honor of Father's Day, new-dad-to-be Ryan Dean took part in a "new dad boot camp" with Pat McGonigle, a proud papa of five young girls.

Ryan and Dana Dean are expecting their first bundle of joy later this summer. The impromptu crash course on the essential skills of a new dad covered all of the essentials: diaper changing, setting up a portable crib, figuring out baby clothes with 5,000 snaps and buttons, and, most important of all, bending down to pick up the TV remote control while holding a baby.

"Many new dads in our generation are expected to do things our dads never would have dreamed of doing," Pat said. "Changing messy diapers, measuring baby formula in the middle of the night, pretending to enjoy the music of Justin Timberlake, Bruno Mars, and (gasp) Enrique Iglesias. It's all part of the job now."

It's all there for you to see, in video form, by clicking on the play button on this page.

Confirming the old adage, “it’s easier to take something out than it is to put it up,” Ryan and Pat struggle to break down a playpen. KSDK
