BOSTON (KSDK) - Some are calling the World Series showdown, the Redbirds vs. the Beards. The scraggly facial hair has become the calling card for Boston Red Sox Nation.
So what do the Cardinals think of their bearded opponents? Playoff beards are common in a lot of sports. Some of the Red Sox started growing beards in spring training, and it caught on. But let/s not forget, the Cardinals have the best single beard in baseball.
Fake beards have taken over Fenway Park. Sox fans picking facial hair to symbolize their World Series run. The Sox players have been sporting them for weeks, so we went to the beard expert in Major League Baseball. Jason Motte.

"I think they have really nice beards," said Motte.
Reporter: "Who has the best beard on the Red Sox?
"Ohh, I like Napoli's his is pretty good and full, they must have like a fluffer, cuz theirs is nice," said Motte.
Reporter: "Do they make beard fluffers?"
"I have no idea, but Napoli might have one of the, he has a really good one over there," said Motte.
A few Cardinals players are donning their own playoff chin straps or goatees, including Joe Kelly.
Reporter: "What do you think of the Red Sox beards they've been sporting?"
"They're good I like them," said Kelly.
"Joe Kelly's got a cute little beard, he needs to work on it," said Motte.
And Motte, the beloved goofball, didn't stop there. When Anne Allred asked him if he had a message for Cardinal Nation, he said this: "Hi, how you doing? Everyone doing good? Alright good, good talk."
The souvenir shops around Fenway are all selling fake beards, so get those the Rally Towels and the Rally Squirrels ready for Saturday.
