PETTIS COUNTY Mo. (KSDK) -- Investigators are looking into the cause of a pipeline explosion, about 12 miles east of Whiteman air force base.

The Pettis County Sheriff's Office says the explosion of the Panhandle Eastern Pipeline happened just after midnight Friday.

The Panhandle Eastern Pipeline is located just north of Sedalia.

The pipeline company says a 30 inch natural gas line ruptured and exploded.
