The Major Case Squad has identified a woman who was found dead in the trunk of a car in Madison, Illinois, Friday morning.

MADISON COUNTY, Ill. (KSDK) – The Major Case Squad has identified a woman who was found dead in the trunk of a car in Madison, Illinois, Friday morning.

According to Major Case Squad Major Jeff Connor, police went to tow a car, which had been sitting at the intersection of 3rd Street and Jackson, Friday morning and found a woman's body while searching it.

The Madison County Coroners office has confirmed the identity of the female located in the trunk is that of Sybil Brandon, 50, of the 4600 block of Margaretta. Brandon died as a result of a gunshot wound to the head.

Brandon went missing just before Thanksgiving.
